FAQ'S

What time should I arrive? - Midday arrivals for an afternoon hunt with no lunch should arrive no earlier than 12:45pm. Midday arrivals for an afternoon hunt with lunch should arrive no earlier than 12:00pm as arrival lunches are served at 12:45pm and rooms are not available until after 1:15pm.

Afternoon arrivals for an overnight stay with hunting to begin the next day should arrive no earlier than 3:30pm. We understand air travel plays a big role in arrival times and are happy to accommodate in these instances with advanced notice.

What type of clothing should I bring? -  As far as clothing goes, it is hard to say, our weather in Southwest Georgia is very unpredictable and always changing, so our suggestion is to watch the forecast a few days before arrival to get some idea of what our temperature might be and whether or not there is any chance of rain. Normally during hunting season our temperature ranges between low to mid 30’s in the mornings and low to mid 70’s in the afternoons. When searching for a weather forecast we are located in Camilla, GA  (31730 Zip Code). Brush pants or chaps are something that you will want to have. While our brush is not very thick, we do have small blackberry briars that will tear at slacks or jeans. We do not carry brush pants, but we do sell chaps in our pro shop as well as other apparel that may help outfit our guests. Comfortable (preferably waterproof) boots are also important, while we do not do an extensive amount of walking it is hunting and you will be walking through light brush and those aforementioned briars.

Do I need to bring a shotgun? -  You are welcome to bring your own shotgun, but we also have loaner shotguns at no charge that you may use during your stay. Our loaner shotguns are Beretta Silver Pigeon I O/U 20 gauge, 26 inch barrel length, field grade shotguns.

What type of shotguns are acceptable? - Double barrelled shotguns are preferred (O/U or SxS). Semi-automatic shotguns require permission prior to hunting.

What gauge shotguns are acceptable? - .410, 28 and 20 gauge shotguns are preferred. 12 gauge shotguns require permission prior to hunting.

Do I need to bring ammunition? - You are welcome to bring you own ammunition. We also carry all gauges of shells for purchase if needed.

Do I need a hunting license? - Yes, a license is required to hunt at CoveyRise. Licenses can be purchased prior to arrival at www.gooutdoorsgeorgia.com or we can handle your needs at check in. Should you choose to purchase for yourself, we recommend the 2YR Commercial Shooting Preserve License.

How do I tip my guide and/or house and kitchen staff? - Cash tipping is recommended, however leaving your gratuities on the final bill should you choose or need to do so is not a problem.

How much should I tip? - We get this question all the time....and the answer is quite simply, whatever you are comfortable with. Gratuities are greatly appreciated by all the staff, but never expected. However, if you would like or need some guidance from us, the following is what we recommend:

$50 per shooter each half day session for your guides

$35 per guest per night for the cleaning staff

$35 per guest per day for the kitchen staff.

Also, always feel free to tip individual staff any amount you'd like if you feel they deserve a little extra for somehow enhancing your trip.
